Sichuan Earthquake

At 14:28 of May 12, 2008, a 8.8-magnitude earthquake hit Sichuan Province, a mountainous region in China, killing 69,197 people and leaving 18,209 missing. It was the largest earthquake in China since the Tangshan Earthquake in 1976.

It was a terrible day. The houses and  the schools were destroyed. Many people lost their families. Hundreds of the children lost their schools and classmates. One minute before, they were reading, smiling, and speaking, and one minute after, everything was ended. However, everything is getting better and better. With the help of the government and the volunteers, the victims summoned the nerve to rebuild their towns soon.

Why? Who was the murderer?  People themselves? Was it the punishment for us for destroying the environment? In any case, we must protect our earth carefully from now on. We should treasure everything in the earth, including the people, the animals, the trees, the water and anything else.

The Most Important Invention of the Last 200 Years

I think the most important invention of the last 200 years is the automobile. Cars have changed the way people live. They take us places speedily and give us freedom and mobility, and the manufacture of cars provides millions of jobs worldwide.

Hundreds of years ago, there were no cars and people usually walked to their destinations. Sometimes it took many days or several months. Later, the bike was  invented, but the speed was so slow. As the cars appeared, everything has changed. We can go to somewhere in a short time. It's so convenient for our lives and work. Sometimes it can save a life if someone is in sick and has to get to a hospital. In addition, the cars have changed the way towns and cities are built. More and more buildings are built and people can visit their friends who live far away form their houses. Gradually, the world has become more and more beautiful and the people have gotten closer and closer.

Some people say that cars are the major cause of pollution. But nowadays there are some new-style cars. They're enviromental cars. They can release fewer pollutants. But the most important question is that many people are killed in auto accidents. But I think most accidents are easily avoidable, so we must drive carefully. Please don't drive after drinking or talk on the cell phones while driving.

But, in a word, the automobile has changed our world a lot. It's the one symbol of the advanced society. It's difficult to imagine the world without it.

Bargaining in China

In China,people normally do bargain in many stores if the stores are permissive.I have tried to do it for many times.But I usually do not bargain for the cheap things,such as the food.Instead,I bargain the clothes often.When I'm going to buy some expensive things,such as the electronic products,I will take along my friends or my relatives to help me.Because I am unfamiliar to these products.
